its a sprint company what do ya expect. i am surprised they just say tough to you like sprint does. unless they are no longer under contract and then the consumer has some buying power again.

Yup - that's how AT&T is working on its 'naked' Uverse service here.
I have AT&T Mobility (Wireless), AT&T POTS/LD and DSL through DSL-Extreme (over AT&T lines) and DirecTv.
They've offered Uverse TV + Internet, but I'm under DTV contract.
I've been offered packages (Internet 3Mbps or 6Mbps) with $50 rebates... however, AT&T recently removed the ability for me to even order or renew the 3Mbps package

I've called and complained that all I want is Internet + VoIP or Internet + POTS/LD, or I'll take all my services and go to TimeWarner.

Now they're offering me $30 for 3Mbps/1Mbps 'dry' Uverse or $40/month for 6Mbps/1Mbps dry Uverse.

I'll wait until their VoIP pricing comes out, and my DSL-Extreme contract is up before I even think about it.

Worst part is that my 3Mbps line (which is not offered any more, except on DSL-Extreme month 2 month), works VERY well, especially since AT&T's contractors fixed the lines around here.

Embarq has been a separate company from Sprint for about two years now.

tat doesnt mean the corporate mantra is not still there. The way people handle themselves and others proabably won't change. Think about the company's personality.
