Docsis 3.0 and QAM 512 gives them more bandwidth over existing HFC architecture, coupled with switched digital video,
don't expect the cable company to run fiber to your home anytime soon, but it sure would be nice  .

DOCSIS 3.0 is quoted as having speeds of around 160mb/s, which is comparable to many of the fiber rollouts out there. |
