cannot get > 130 KB/s on 3.0

Decided to upgrade to 3.0 from 1.5 this week. Ran the 8M test prior to upgrade just to make sure I get bumped up. The 3.0 date came and went but without the increase in download (still 120-125). Called support and was told there was "work" being done on "my/our" line so call back in 24hrs if it's still slow.

It was still "slow" again so I called in, did a "tracert" and sent it to telus, thay came back with some "blah blah latency blah blah" issue. Was on hold for 15mins, then came back saying everything seems OK on their side. Was told they can send a tech over but at a cost of $120 if the issue was user error.

Modem is the 300G (gen2)

This is what I have done so far:
1. removed all phone connections
2. disconnected alarm phone line (no filter in place - I don't see one)
3. rerouted ADSL line to another phone plug
4. computer hooked to 300G output (no router)
5. disable AVG/Zonealarm, cleared cookies

After doing 1-5 above I still get 120-130 with the 8M test.

Any insights anyone?

Thanks!

I think it'd be a good idea to get a tech out. I'm not aware of a flat $120 charge for a service call to fix your inside wire. The charges are $38.50 flat for an inside wire issue, and $19 per 15 minutes of labour. Most techs I know are very easy on the billing, but you can ask the tech about it.

Based on your troubleshooting steps, I'd think it was an 'outside plant' issue - but you may want to check with another PC if you have access to one.

You live in Blaine, WA? That could be your problem.. might be a bit far from the DSLAM! haha.

pm me your number.. when I get some time I'll check your profile.

Seeing the same download speeds on both the 2.4G and 350M PC's.

·TELUS
·TekSavvy Solutions..

I'd be really interested on the outcome. I had the same issue today. The modem says it was sync to 3.0 but data rate on ftp was around 160kB/s. Tried a new speedtouch on spec and data rate turned out to be 320kB/s. Not sure what the deal is with the 300g but alot of them seem to flake out going to 3.0

He wasn't actually sync'd at 3.0. So totally different issue. He's actually 13,000 ft from the CO... plus some other issues. Tech will have to clean up his line and/or move him to an RDAC to try and get him 3.0 service.

I would of fixed it myself since it's near to where I work.. but I'm always swamped with TTV orders. Plus when I looked up the trouble ticket it was already set for dispatch.

Got it fixed!!! It was a bad port a few blocks away!

the 300g was going in/out of link(?) when connected back up, ended up replacing it with the SE567.

Glad you got it fixed!

Looks like they moved you out of the CO to the RDAC. Doubtful it was a bad port since you were working fine before.. but you were just too far for 3.0 service on the original port.
