Burbank, CA | Re: Project Pronto and Alcatel 1000 I may still have another Alcatel 1000 sitting in storage at work. I'll dig it up in the next couple of days and see how it reacts without an active DSL circuit. My suspicion is it'll react the same way yours is.
Is there any way you can connect an outlet at the demarc or MPoE? If so, maybe you can eliminate your inside wiring as a problem. You should also make sure you're using "line 2" of your current jack; the Alcatel doesn't use line 1 for data. This is frequently the black/yellow pair, not the green/red pair. |

| When I just got my new line installed I brought my Alcatel 1000 from my old house and they told me it wouldn't work. I talked to my friend who said it would and he walked me through setting up the new VPI/VCI and I did notice that if it wasn't hooked up to the DSL circuit it wouldn't let me change it. But once I hooked it up and tried again it worked fine and as soon as I changed it and changed my IP address to the real one it started letting me surf. So the answer to your question is that you have to have it connected to a DSL line. |
