 | 2Wire 1000SW Hi -
I got a 2Wire 1000SW from eBay, and when I connect with an Ethernet cable and go to the configuration page at »gateway.2wire.net I find it is set with the previous owner's admin password, so I can't make any configuration changes. There doesn't seem to be a reset button anywhere on the unit - can anyone assist with a reset of the unit to defaults? I'd really appreciate it, thanks! |

 | I would recommend contacting 2wire support to reset the password on your gateway.

 | reply to ohnoes When you go to gateway.2wire.net and run the system setup wizard, it'll ask for your password, when it does click the link that says, "I forgot password" and this will bring up a hint. On that page, there's going to be another link that says "I still can't remember my password", clicking on that will allow you to reset the password.
Most of the time it'll just ask for the system key (which is your wireless encyption key that's on the bottom of the 2wire in brackets (i.e. [0123456789])) and it'll let you type in a new password. If it's asking for a temporary password with a 20 digit number (i.e. 0123-4567-8901-2345-6789), you'll need to contact 2Wire and request for a gateway password reset. |

 | reply to ohnoes Hi there,
I'm having the same problem as well, I bought a 2Wire 1000SW from eBay (Digidave.co.uk to be precise) and it's already been set up, and I cannot reconfigure it or reset it to factory settings because it requires a password!
Having followed the instructions, the configuration screen is prompting me to call BellSouth on an American number, which is fine if you live in the States but not if you live in the UK . Also as I do not have an account with BellSouth I doubt they'd be of much help!
Still waiting to hear from the ebay seller; is there no way to just hard reset the router? Thanks |

 | You do not have to contact bellsouth (aka AT&T) to get the password reset, you can just call 2wire them self and request a gateway password reset, and they'll ask you for the 20 digital code (i.e. 0123-4567-8901-2345-6789). This progress normally only takes 2 minutes to do so it should be affordable, look at the quote below for the number.

If you are unable to locate that telephone number, support is available online at 2Wire.com or by calling 480.567.7021 (Monday - Friday) 6:00 AM PST to 6:00 PM PST. |

 | reply to ohnoes If it only takes a couple of minutes that should be fine lol, I didn't want to be placed on hold for hours on a long distance call =P I work for a phone company in the UK so I know how long it can take to get through sometimes |

 | I've contacted them a few times, got through with no problems. |
