Re: [northeast] Actiontec - Back to My Mac Working?

I have looked at that, but:

1) The reviews of that approach seem to be mixed at best. Specifically on the Apple discussion boards, many say that it does not work as advertised. If anyone here can attest that it does without any issues, I would try it.

2) Other than "Back to My Mac" not functioning, everything is fine with my current configuration. The Actiontec is the DHCP server and all my port forwarding, etc. works fine.

Thanks,

Jon

Did you consider »How-to: make ActionTec MI424-WR a network bridge

Hello All,

I am currently running Fios in Northern NJ with the Actiontec router in front of a Apple Airport Extreme base station (AEBS). The AEBS is in bridge mode and handles my wireless, while the Actiontec is the DHCP server and such.

This set up works fine for me, but I have not been able to get "Back to My Mac" to function through the Actiontec. It is not on the supported router list here:

»docs.info.apple.com/article.html···m=306803

But since it does support UPnP, I thought it should work. I have been unsuccessful in making this happen.

Has anyone had better luck than me? Are there any tricks to doing it?

OR -

Should I consider the challenge of flipping the two routers around and setting up the Actiontec as a bridge behind the AEBS? I do have Fios TV as well, so I need to maintain my channel listings and VOD.

Thanks
