The real question here is why doesn't Austin show the Cowboys games on the local channels? I realize Austin isn't Dallas but surely by now they could have come to some sort of agreement. |

| The NFL is insisting that the cable companies offer the NFL Channel on basic cable, and not on a higher tier. This means that EVERY cable subscriber will be forced to pay some $10 a year for 8 NFL games and 12 months of stuff that only a die hard football fan would ever think of watching. It's a potential $700 Million a year boondoggle for the NFL. |

I'm surprised one of the local Austin stations doesn't show the Cowboys regularly. -- What's certain about Darwinism is that it would take less time for (1) a single-celled organism to evolve into a human being through mutation and natural selection than for (2) Darwinists to admit they have no proof of (1) - Ann Coulter |

The NFL has said it can be on a digital tier. Cox has it on a Sports and Info tier( which has more than just 6-7 sports channels ). Charter could put it on their TOTAL VIEW tier and the NFL wouldn't have an issue. And neither should you. No one getting basic cable would be "forced" to pay anything and those getting just the Digital View tier wouldn't be either.

It's a potential $700 Million a year boondoggle for the NFL. 70 cents X 12 is $8.40. Non-sports fans currently pay $40 a year for ESPN. Where's your outrage there? I'm also posistive if add add up all the channels I never watch my costs are FAR greater than $10.
Also if fans are only getting sports tier because it's the only way ot get NFL network then they are being FORCED to pay $60 a year for ONE channel that cosst the cable company $8. Let's see Comcast, TW and Charter have 45 million subscribers that's potentially a $2.3 BILLION windfall for cable. And the NFL is greedy?

| NFL Network - approx $10 per year You get... * 8-10 NFL games
ESPN Family - approx $40 per year You get... * 16 NFL games *and* * NBA, MLB, PGA Golf, Tennis, College Football, College Basketball (incl Women's March Madness), NCAA Baseball, NCAA Softball, NASCAR, Arena Football, Poker, Billiards, Bowling and much MUCH more!
Given what the NFLN brings to the table, compared to ESPN, they should only be getting $2-4 per year! |
