| reply to Jwobot Re: Why NFL?
said by Jwobot :It is really stupid that the NFL is making its fans suffer by asking the cable companies to pay big $$$ for their 8 football games on the NFL Network. Comcast was bidding for those NFL games for its own-OLN channel (now called Versus or "vs" in the USA). Rest assured, Comcast (dba Versus) would have been charging carriers more to carry this channel if those 8 NFL games were on Versus.
ESPN charges about $2.80 a viewer. NFL charges $0.70. I don't know what Comcast charges for Versus.
Funny how history repeats itself: A few years ago, Comcast blacked out NHL games on the Dish Network and Cablevision because those two carriers refused to put OLN on more-populated programming tiers. Dish Network's stance was that few of its customers would be willing to have the channel if it meant raising rates. -- Robb Topolski -= funchords.com =- Hillsboro, Oregon USA Are you affected by Comcast's RST forging?
