 | [HDTV] New HD Channels Today's Star Ledger has a large ad announcing the new HD channels coming on line as of January 10th, 2008 as well as some other minor lineup changes. CNN ESPN2 A&E National Geographic VS USA MY TV MHD |

 | With no mention of MSG or FSN in HD...very disappointing. I'll stick with FiOS. It's unbelievable that nowhere in central NJ can you get those two channels despite having access to four different video carriers. |
|
 | reply to shaffer001 So no Discovery Channel HD? I'd rather switch HD Theater for the real channel. |

Hound7 join:2006-03-08 Princeton, NJ | reply to shaffer001 It is a good addition of HD channels, but not enough to get me to drop Fios, and have Comcast/Patriot Media as my main TV provider. I already have all of those channels except CNN and USA, with Fios or Dish Network. If MSG HD, FSNY HD, TeamHD for NBA League Pass, and NHL Network HD were added, I might consider Comcast/Patriot Media. I could live with NBATV games on MOJO rather than a full time HD channel on Dish Network. I would drop Dish Network, if Comcast were to add those four channels.
There are persistant rumors that MSG HD and FSNY HD are going to be added to Directv this week.
Fios is supposed to be adding a number of HD channels in the first quarter of 2008 to get to over 60 HD channels. I will sit back and wait to see what happens. |

I figured that was the case, like TNTHD, etc. The few shows I watch on Discovery claim to be in HD. I'd much rather have that than sunrise Earth... |

Hound7 join:2006-03-08 Princeton, NJ | reply to robjlevin There have been a few shows in HD that I have watched on Discovery channel. It is a matter of going through the guide and setting your DVR to record the HD shows. I do not have the patienc to watch live. Discovery channel does occasionally replay the critically acclaimed Planet Earth series in real HD. That show is outstanding, but I have it on Blu ray. |

JEK2 join:2004-08-29 Whitehouse Station, NJ | reply to Travelfan1 I have the paper. The ad was by Patriot Media, not Comcast. And it would seem the change is for all current Patriot customers.
The other good thing is that almost all the HD channels are being moved to the HD Basic category. (TNTHD, TBSHD, ESPNHD, YES, FSNY, MOJO, UHD, HDT etc) Only 3 HD channels will be in HD Plus - Wealth TV (WTF is that channel all about anyway - so now someone is going to pay money to watch how rich people live??) and some HD Movie channels or something. So no more paying for the HD versions of channels you already pay for in SD.
Also, for all you NFL fans out there, we are getting screwed again. This year, they are actually letting us watch the NFL channel games. After Jan. 10th (Hmm, I guess it won't matter at that point) they are moving the NFL channel under their Digital Sports Package, which costs extra of course. If you pay for that, you will also get the HD equivalent.
I appreciate the extra HD channels, and moving them out of the PLUS package, but I wish Patriot would give us what we really want - FNSNY-HD, MSG-HD and more On Demand movies in HD. |
|
 | I think the reason for HDNet and HDNet Movies remaining as premiums is because Comcast doesn't have a contract with them anywhere else but they're stuck with current contract until it expires. |
|
 | reply to shaffer001 Hey JEK, quit whining about not having Fox Sports HD and pony up some money and pay for the DSA. |
|
 | How exactly is that going to get FSN and MSG in HD? |
|
JEK2 join:2004-08-29 Whitehouse Station, NJ | SteveJr is well known for his useless posts. Ignore him.
He can't even spell DSA. |
|
Hound7 join:2006-03-08 Princeton, NJ | reply to SteveJr Fox SportsNY HD is a local regional sports network and will not be in DSA (Digital Sports Arena). I would pony up the money for DSA, if HD regional sports networks and other HD sports networks were offered such as FSNY HD, MSG HD, NHL Network HD, NBA TV HD, BTN HD, Fuel HD, Speed HD etc. For a long time HD sub, the DSA is basically useless because it does not offer any HD sports networks, except in January, NFL Network and NFL Network HD will be moving to DSA.
Why doesn't Comcast provide all the HD sports channels to the old Patriot Media subs? My neighbors next door in West Windsor have MSG HD and FSNY HD game feeds from Comcast as well as YES HD, CSN Phila HD, CSN MA HD and SNY HD. |
|
 | My one year commitment with FiOS is up in a few weeks. DirecTV is looking like the best choice at this point. |

 | reply to shaffer001 JEK, based on the time of your post someone needs to focus more on their job!!! |
