Said many times but true - Hollywood drives TV costs

It has been said many times by all the cable companies and by the satellite companies too - but it is true and not a lie that the continual cost increases are driven by the big 4 entertainment conglomerates who have a stranglehold on all the TV networks.

And as long as people whine every time a cable company refuses to pay the price for a TV network(see all the NFL Network whining the last month) and threaten to drop service, price increases will keep coming.

Most people just don't want to acknowledge the truth. I went to the movies last week and whoa and behold, the ticket price increased by 75 cents. I don't believe they have added any value for that extra money.

Concession prices probably went up more than that.

Funny how you can still buy songs for a buck a la carte despite pressure from the RIAA membership.

Fact is if the cable, telco and DBS industry would stand up to these guys they could control the prices.

But alas, it's easier just to hit the cable customer ATM twice a year.

Price increases don't always equate added value. Comcast claims 'added value' on their hikes more than they do increased costs. (dumb move on their part) However, the movie theater, in this case, I give a full pass too. They are usually the LAST people at the bottom of the sh*t hill and are being squeezed the hardest. (Which is why we pay $5.50 for an extra large pop)

These pompass a*ses that think their acting is worth millions (see Tom Cruise) is one major reason why the prices go up.. another.. less people are coming to the theater after the initial rush of a new release.

On that note, too, the 'industry' says that ticket sales are down.. all the while, as news stations are consistently reporting record box office releases. :-? Interesting...

And the weak American dollar and massive inflation.... as well as the greedy coporate media conglomerates like Viacom, clear channel, National Amusements, Vivendi etc... just drives up the cost of everything sigh
