Re: Minneapolis up on ibone This may or may not be related but dadkins and I have been able to trace route each other for over a year now and the whole route remains on Comcast ibone(Arkansas to California). Of course it might be different(or has to be) to a non Comcast sub.
Or maybe what you're saying is that Comcast has added Minn to the ibone as a path. |

Sorry I didn't mean it to sound terse. I just assumed that you would know what the Internet backbone was and was confused by the term "ibone."
From Eric's post I assume that Comcast is getting more into using it's own backbone to provide transit for it's own as well as other users. |

I get the picture now..Comcast is starting to use their own backbone instead of peering..

These numbers are simply amazing considering the distance involved. I mean, for those of us on each coast..we are looking at sub 100ms COAST TO COAST..as in 3,000 miles away. And, the progression is awesome as we move from area to area...ie: 20ms range..30ms..etc.
There's no 20ms..then 150ms..then 400ms..then...200ms.. as is commonly associated with the net.
Latency is a huge factor in our connections..not just the speeds involved.
This is like having our own nationwide Lan for christs sake.
