The other PC has a USB stick now. Airlink AWLL3026 w/ ZD1211B chipset. Ran like crap and dropped like crap until I took the included USB extension and taped it to the desk so the adapter was upright in the air. Runs great now (60% signal STR -> 95%).

This router is a beast. I have the DIR-655 in my upstairs office hardwired to my main PC, down in the living room I have their new DAP-1555 media bridge with my PS3 and Directv HR20 hooked up to that, both using wired hookups to the bridge to utilize the bridge's draft n capability. Then I have my laptop on g that I also use in the living room. I have these random disconnects with all three pieces of hardware, and I've tried using the PS3 wirelessly without the bridge and still the same issue. Definnitely seems like DLink has an issue on their hand. I only bought the router from BB 4 weeks ago and I'm hoping DLink releases the new 855 before 1/15 so I can swap the 655 under BB's holiday return policy. I get that all over my log, this computer disconnects at least once every 15 minutes and will disconnect within 2 minutes if a large LAN transfer is started.

The computer is using an Airlink101 MIMO XR PCI LAN card. Does not matter if I use Airlink's drivers or the Ralink RT61 drivers- same crap either way.

I think I'm going to have to invest in a better lan card :( Any ideas on how to force them to play nice? I'm running WPA2-AES.

Also, the computer is literally under 3 yards away from the router separated by 1 wall. Signal strength is 100%. It came with the 1.10 firmware.

1) The install wizard decided the router wasn't on it's supported list, so I had to install manually.

2) When using the wireless connection with WEP or WPA, the router resets about 30 seconds after it's done testing the network performance. I was not able to get around this behavior, making it useless as a wireless router.

When connected only via cable, it seems to be more stable.

I ran a ping -t 192.168.0.1 from the command shell and verified that it would lose the hardware connection any time I turned on a wireless card and connected to the router. I usually had about 10 seconds of connection though.

So far, it has been a very frustrating experience. Without the positive reviews, I wouldn't even consider trying again. I feel bad saying this, because as a previous owner of three DI-624 revC routers I understand the frustration of random reboots and knowing that it is a design flaw of the hardware so no matter how many RMAs you get you will always have the problem.

All of the wired connections are connected 10 dlink 8 ports Gigabits switch. My Internet connection is FiOS 15/2.

My wireless is using WPA2-AES encryption. I swapped my Linksys WRT-54G, and was thrilled at the performance, settings, features, etc. Get me past these intermittent outages (1-2 times/day), and I'm 100% satisfied.

Okay, will change from WPA-PSK to WEP and see if that helps (not sure why it would considering that the outage is also occuring on the wired OFFICE computer)... May also just live with the 1.10 firmware until a 1.11 american version comes out.

So far (4 months and counting) this 655 has been better than all (has not been long enough to compare to the USR). This one is much faster handling torrents,etc. The USR lasted 9 months before it started dropping the wireless. I hope this one lasts longer.

Just my 2 cents... am also a comcast user...south Florida... I would try running with no encryption, if you are, and see if it stabilizes.... I only run NG adapters for wireless, but for the N (Dlink PCI Xtreme N, I got the Atheros drivers as mentioned in a thread here back a couple months now I guess).

Have you tried bypassing the router, in that if your wired PC doesn't drop, then it may help point to the router or if it still drops a wired PC, then it may well be related to your cable modem. There are certainly many posts in the Comcast HSI forum about flaky cable modems causing weird problems...

I am a Beta tester using the Beta v1.11 firmware which is supposedly built off the v1.05 core but is labelled 1.11 but since DLink has released their own 1.11 (EU at least) it is bound to get confusing.

Either way, there's a problem, and time for us to share ways of how to address it.

In my case, I'm running V1.10 firmware. I have Comcast for ISP, and I'm not running any torrents, etc. Furthermore, my DIR-655 is vertical in an open-environment where it can't be over-heating.

I'm seeing random "losing connections" both on my wireless laptop and my wired office PC (both sit next to each other). The loss in connection is occuring simultaneously, matter of fact seen it happen twice today. Connection gets automatically restored after 30 sec - 1.5 minutes.

My settings have hardly changed from the default settings other than, I do have WPA-PSK turned on and do have a printer and a server that require static IPs.

The DIR-655 used to work well for me, but after 30-days of ownership, this thing is getting flaky in the "losing connection" that I'm seeing at least once/day if not twice/day.

Agree or disagree? What are the suggestions?
