Re: Seized??

Do you have any idea how much that number would cost Cisco if it were my phone sex number? Think 7 figures...

Oh no it was not "seized". It was handed over to Cisco like a hot potato! Most likey close to free. Once the 800# went viral and the sex-op got tons of calls with nobody signing up for their "service" and generating those 1 minute minimum bills (business rates are billed in 6 second increments -- the shortest "tick" a typical central office switch can record a time duration), that was all they wrote.

Once they checked their online useage against credit card billing, they either would have (1) disconnected the phone number or (2) call Cisco and say Lets Make A Deal

No seizure needed here. They drove straight to Tasman Drive in Santa Clara (CA) and waited in the lobby with the silver platter (RespOrg release form) on their lap!

...and probably the last week's usage bill saying "purdy pluheeze?!?"

They could have simply coughed up a bunch of cash to acquire (as in buy) it,
Thats true. On another note, I like how the front page story was changed from "seized" to "acquired". Which is it?

I have seen an international organization that has a website go through an update recently and one major nation that is not yet updated with a link to their national site is India. Coincidence? Maybe not.

Also, it seems to me that it is good business for Cisco to take the blame for the phone number problem rather than hurt Circuit City or any other retail seller.

Maybe.....but why cause another businesses customers unneeded grief? There customers should be connected without issue, at the number they know and have been dialing all along.

They took another legit businesses phone number due to there own mistake, or did I read that wrong???
Yup...that's surprising....and dare I saw under-handed on their part.
They could have had the phone company that is serving that number issue the sex line company a new number (ie: Just switch the sex line's number) and hang a message on the old number apologizing for the error and saying "Press 1 for Linksys" and "Press 2 for Sex Line" and upon a response redirect to the correct number. Alternately, the message can give the correct 2 numbers and say "Hit 1 to repeat the numbers.

Seized or bought it from the company operating the hotline. I'm sure it cost quite a bit.
