 | DSL Down completely No DSL at all for the last hour here in Macon, GA. Anyone else? (I'm using MindSpring dial up to post this message. Bellsouth dial up couldn't do it either.) |
 | Do you get synch on DSL at all? Around here it's a DNS outage.
Try using the following opendns servers and see if it improves things (it worked for me):
208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220 |

 | reply to barton44 OpenDNS works like a champ. No more issues after swiching over to those DNS servers. |

My neighbor called and said she couldn't surf. I switched her DNS servers to OpenDNS and all is well now. |

 | Yep, there is no greater frustration then knowing that the dns servers are down, but not having written down alternate ones then calling every friend you know until you find one that is next to a computer and looks up opendns's ip for you.
Finally got the darn thing working, up yours at&t for sucky dns servers
Cheers,

 | reply to barton44 Thank you. Those DNS numbers did the trick. I can't really complain. My DSL has been very reliable.
My setting was "On-Demand." Is it OK to leave it at that selection? Thanks! |
 | Frustrating - I have detected numerous DNS outages over the past few months, generally brief, with ATT/BellSouth; none this significant, though. |
 | reply to barton44 I changed my DNS............works great! Thank you |

Time to make a switch. -- I have achieved 3 meg , fastpath sync on a 15,700 ft. 26 ga copper line. =] |
 | reply to barton44 Yup, couldn't get on until I changed my DNS servers. |

| reply to tigers Another thanks for the DNS numbers. I've been totally down for well over an hour, and when it came back, it was only partial. Those numbers did the trick. Gotta be pretty widespread too, because the help desk isn't taking any calls ... any calls. |
1 edit | reply to barton44 I've had 7 customers call, email OK so it must be DNS server problems. All on the Treasure Coast, FL. Tequesta to Fort Pierce. |
 | reply to Pashune I can get through using the AOL client. Not direct to the Internet. BS support lines are down. |

 | reply to barton44 Yep, DNS fudged up. I used 4.2.2.2 until I got on here and saw those opendns numbers. Thanks. |
 | DNS problems here is central MS for an hour or two. New DNS settings worked. |
 | reply to tigers I went to the OpenDNS site and it looks amazing. Is there any potential problem with using these DNS numbers permanently? My speeds are faster and according to their material, more secure. Can AT&T change my DNS back when/if it's fixed? |
