1 edit | I've seen this happen before... with Adelphia. Adelphia cable launched a new customer service number, 888-683-1000 several years ago.
Many of the customer handouts like price lists and channel line-ups I saw from Adelphia right after that listed 800-683-1000 for customer service.
800-683-1000 was a sex line. 888-683-1000 was customer support. I know because I called them both.
About a week after I saw a customer report it in the local office, Adelphia had taken over the 800-683-1000. So it had both 888 and 800 683-1000.
