| Turning firewall off
I'm trying to turn the fire wall off on my sprint modem, which I got from them free. When I connect to it I don't see a firewall tab in the GUI or telnet, so is there some kind of firmware update i missed, or something else im supposed to do? Also if it helps it is a SP-660ME-61 modem. |

| The 660ME-61 doesn't have a firewall its only a NAT router when in routed mode, if your having port forwarding issues look at the port mapping and the SUA (Single User Address) setting. if needed I'll hook up my old one and post screen shots. -- Life's 3 rules: 1. | It's just like a chain you'd have to give it your routersip then have the router forward to your pc/console, or as envision suggest bridge it and just let the router manage things. -- Life's 3 rules: 1. Step 2 - forward the affected port from your router to the PC you want providing that service. |

| Router should then be doing the DHCP for you (e.g. you'll see the public IP on the router WAN section). Ensure your router's set to DHCP and query the interface to be sure you're getting a public IP in your router. The bridge should simply pass it through to your router as if it weren't there.
Another note... if you bridge the firewall is no longer active. I'm sure you all know this but I got this confirmed and thought I would pass it on (for the 660). |

| reply to AJ2VM If you forget to release the IP (if your using a dynamic ip) it could take upto 2.5 hours for the DHCP to release or in your router you could clone the MAC address of the 660's WAN address that should permit the DHCP to renew without waiting. -- Life's 3 rules: 1.
