•Audio: foobar2000 (uses less resources than Winamp5.x)
•Video: VLC and MPC Homecinema (I use the latter because of the EVR hardware decoding of my HD x264 video files). I also use CyberLink PowerDVD for HDDVD and BluRay playback (which is close to never!)

2 computers with Media Player Classic the default on one, and VLC the default on the other. They have slight differences but I have found no real preference for one over the other.
QT and Real Alternatives (MPC) on the main player.
Also have GOM and KMP »www.kmplayer.com/forums/index.php as non-default alternatives, which are useful from time to time. If I was stuck and could only have one player on my system, my choice right now would be KMPlayer
Two "other" players that have specialized used that I find handy.

I can use it to play what is in a folder without having to create any playlist or manually choose the next song as one finishes, A very nice little FREEBIE

Very specialized use, but extremely handy from time to time.

Primarily WinAmp, but also WMP11 (the Amazon MP3's download to it), Media Player Classic and Real Alternative, as needed. Windows Media Center for the rare times I watch a DVD on the computer.
