[Poll] Backup & Imaging Software - 2008 Member Choice Poll

Welcome to the 2008 Backup and Imaging Software Poll!

Computer data protection and recovery has become big business in the last few years, and the number of available programs has blossomed to dozens and dozens. Not every offering is included in the poll, so if your favorite application is missing, please check the "Other" box and let us know your preference.

Many of us use more than one solution, so the poll is multiple choice. Let's see who this year's winners will be!

Thanks for your input!

I voted other - PowerQuest Drive Image 2002.

I have no reason to use anything else as this has performed flawlessly for me for the last 5 years.

The best is still the best!

Thanks for the poll, Babar See Profile!

I use TrueImage for Linux and Windows, works great. The one program I absolutely won't be without. I also make manual backups of certain files and folders, burned to cd/dvd, and I have images on dvd as well.

I voted TI but I also wanted to mention Windows Home Server which backs up all my systems nightly.

Acronis True Image 10 is what I use. I know, not the latest version, but it does what I need it to. The thing I love most about it is that it's so easy to use!

Acronis True Image. Dadkins introduced me to it and it's saved me from a few big problems I'd have been boned with otherwise.

I had to vote twice and glad for Multiple Choice: One for Windows and Once for Mac (I use BOTH platforms). Thanks for multiple Choice Option!

ChronoSync for Mac used to be a great choice, but TimeMachine blows it out of the water. I also use .Mac backup regularly.

EDIT:
I would like to add that Mozy works a lot like .Mac backup and offers a great solution for larger backups (I have ~200GB backed up to my account with them).

For unix (and windows/mac clients), you missed a few:

Bacula - »www.bacula.org/
Amanda - »www.amanda.org/

There's many others, those are the two that I've used.

None, I just manually duplicate important things to another drive.

Ghost 12 (for WinXP/Vista), Time Machine (OSX 10.5.1) and Apple Dot Mac Backup 3.1 (OSX 10.4.11)

Ghost is one of the few Symantec consumer apps that is still worth a crap.

backup4all is one of the BEST I have come across and was just what I was looking for.

The software designers that coded it did a nice job and doesn't have that bloated GUI I found when I tried Acronis.

It's also the only one I found that backs up individual files and not making a mirror of the drive.
