helter join:2007-09-11 Silverdale, WA	per their FAQ, item #1 »www.samsung.com/us/support/faqs/···N-T4665F Only 2006 Tv's were manufactured with cablecard slots, in 2007 they gave them up. The user guide indicates it can pick up unencrypted digital channels, so basic should get him local HD channels then, he'll have to wait for ESPN/HBO/Discover/etc though.
