Speeds here in the city (I'm north along the river) are quite impressive also. I am on the 15/2 tier.

| Can someone explain to me why my connection has sucks lately then? Within the last week when playing games my pings have been triple or more what they normally are (140+ instead of 35-40ms). I usually ping yahoo to see if my connection is acting up, id say for the past year its been at 32ms, now its consistently 107+, inc downloads will not finish blah blah all sorts of annoying stuff. I dont know much about this kind of stuff so im just kinda messin around trying to figure stuff out, but something i noticed wierd was that when i tried to ping msn.com or aol.com i just timeout, is this normal?
Have not changed anything with computer hardware or software since problem started. Ive ran antivirus , disabled anything not needed to be running.
Why has my connection becoming slower? Is the winter weather really making everyone get on the pcs or something?

Buffalo, NY | Well msn.com blocks ICMP traffice so it will time out. Try pinging yahoo.com, they dont block ICMP traffic. If you private message me I can take a look at your modem to see if I can find any problems. |

You need to run a Trace to your game server and post the results.

Yes this is normal, Those sites do not respond to pings.
If you have a 4/384 connection your speeds look ok and the speedtest shows your ping to NYC to be 26ms

Start Run type cmd in the run box
at the prompt type.
tracert www.yahoo.com or the IP address of the server you play on and hit enter.

Here in Buffalo, too, I've been noticing slowness lately. Even XM Online seems to time out sometimes. My speeds seem 'OK' considering I have RR Boost, so I'm thinking maybe it's DNS?
I miss living downstate and having OptOnline

| I called up the help line and theyr sending a guy out to take a look. The guy on the phone was half mumbling so i couldnt really understand what he said he was seeing, but something about power i think, i dont know. anyhow hopefully this should be resolved monday. |
