I resorted to turning wireless off to get the voip stuff to work better. It seemed like an improvement, but after a while, the poor voice performance returned. What a waste of time, for me at least. |

| reply to chinusa Well, I was using a channel (channel 11) that was not being used by any of my neighbors and the connection kept dropping. Yesterday, I changed it to channel 1, which is being used by some neighbors, (not as many as Channel 6) now I think both my wireless connection and my voip got better... |

| reply to sokhapkin I've fixed recurrent problems with losing registration using various Sipura models by changing the SIP TI timer value from the default of .5 seconds to one second.
If you look over the board, the WRTP54G has been a real dog in terms of reliability. Apparently, you've had success. Yay!! |

| reply to chinusa All Linksys adapters have the same bug - if registration failed for some reason it waits too long before retry, looking like dead. The solution - on SIP tab lower the value of "Reg Retry Longs Intvl", I use value 120. -- »www.callwithus.com |

| reply to MartyT said by MartyT :I had the same problems with the same router that was flashed to open it up for other providers. I finally gave up and gave it to a relative as a wireless router only. NO VOICE SERVICES. TOO FLAKY! I picked this one up for its voip function, should have got a PAP2. I think I will wait for the 3.1.27 NA version. |

| reply to chinusa said by chinusa :My question is what is the difference between 3.1.24 and 3.1.27 ETSI? Will I be able to use it in the US? Will it solve the problems I am having? Honestly, I don't know. It just happened I mistakenly connected it to the Internet and it got provisioned by ER before I unlocked it. |

| reply to mazilo I have this router with 3.1.24 firmware, it was from vonage that I bought it on ebay and unlocked by changing its firmware, first version 3.1.17 then 3.1.24
I found the router very unstable, I need to do power cycle once every few days or even once or twice a day. When I am on the phone, sometimes the wireless connection get cut off, etc.
My question is what is the difference between 3.1.24 and 3.1.27 ETSI? Will I be able to use it in the US? Will it solve the problems I am having?
The voip services I am using are voipdiscount, fwd and IPKall.
Thank you very much. |

| reply to Velund said by Velund :By the way, can anyone check number of Wi-Fi channels available with NA version and with ETSI version? Is there any difference? My unlocked WRTP54G-ER is currently running v3.1.27 (ER version) and only has 1 - 11 channels. |

| reply to mazilo The product code in the black block on the right in the header is coded into the firmware. The NA firmware does not show WRTP54G-NA. It only shows WRTP54G. If someone simply wants the privilege of seeing it there, decompile the firmware and in the root filesystem, change the /etc/versions file so that your model_name string includes NA. That's all it is. There's no special hardware check to it at all. |

| reply to msaraiva said by msaraiva :if that interests you, i paid about 80 bucks for my WRTP54G-NA here in Brazil That's a good deal you got there. Does it show a WRTP54G-NA or WRTP54G-? string on the top right-hand corner of its Voice Module (VM) information page? BTW, I just PMed you and please go to check it out. |

1 edit | reply to mazilo If you read my first post in this thread I share some of the problems I have had with this router. It does have firmware issues that have not been resolved to date. Also when I bought mine the going rate for a vonage locked device was at least $100 plus tax. I paid less than $130 shipped. I think the $20-30 extra I paid was well worth the time i have not spent trying to unlock ect. The documentation was not what it is now a year and a half ago. And this device will never lock back to the original provider as others had problems with in the past. |

| reply to bigboffo said by bigboffo :Yes I am positive that it is an unlocked (from the factory) device. That's interesting because we thought our completely unlocked Linksys/Vonage and/or Linksys WRTP54G-ER units were not able to show a WRTP54G-NA on the top right-hand corner of its VM page. Looks like it is a minor defective logo.
I bought it off of voxilla over a year ago at the then full price. You must have paid around $150 for your WRTP54G-NA device. I don't suppose your WRTP54G-NA device gives you any problems most of us found on our unlocked WRTP54G devices as reported in this forum. Can you check the VM hardware version of your WRTP54G through its VM Information page? Perhaps, we can do something to find out what causes some of the problems we have encountered. -- Mazilo US Phone: +1-678-601-0907 UK Phone: +44-703-194-2574 |

| reply to bigboffo said by bigboffo :It shows "WRTP54G" on all tabs but Voice, then it shows "wrtp54g?". I thought a Linksys WRTP54G-NA will have a WRTP54G-NA shown. Are you sure you have a Linksys WRTP54G-NA device? Can you please confirm this from the label on the back of your device to see if it does a Linksys WRTP54G-NA print? |

| reply to mazilo said by mazilo :said by bigboffo :On my WRTP54G-NA I have the v3.1.24 linksys firmware (v3.1.22 firmware for voice) and it has the T.38 codec included. I am just curious. Do you have a real Linksys WRTP54G-NA device? If so, does it show a WRTP54G-NA symbol on the top-right corner? On our unlocked WRTP54G units, the top-right corner shows a WRTP54G-? symbol. It shows "WRTP54G" on all tabs but Voice, then it shows "wrtp54g?". |
