 | Are TWC subs ever going to be able to get Navigator release notes with regards to bug fixes and new features for the guide? I know general populations don't care about that stuff, However, for the rest of us who are interested in this, could TWC tell us what has been fixed or added, and what bugs are still being worked on?

 | That's a valid question, but...aren't you still part of the general population? And the posters here regular subscribers? You can't just give info to a select few (if that were possible, which I doubt.) |

But the problem is that there really isn't a place to go at TWC to get answers to the more technical questions. And getting answers to the technical questions might be helpful for customers with engineering and technology backgrounds, who could assist other customers.
Such implementation should be simple for everyone. Just as an example, when TWC does an update to Navigator, which is usually on Monday nights into Tuesday mornings in the wee hours between 1-5 am, after the update, put something on the local division's website:
"Greetings Valued TWC Customer,
To allow a better experience with the on-screen Navigator boxes, ODN model boxes (C boxes and Samsungs) will be updated between 1-5 am Tuesday morning. For best results, do not use your converter doing this time. Expect 2-3 reboots with about a 45 minute duration for the update to complete."
OK, they sometimes do that on voice mail, but below is what they DON'T do.
"This update will allow for better HDMI functionality and improved recording/playback reliability. and should fix some output resolution bugs."
Customers have to hunt and peck to find new features or guess at what was changed. For example, MDN 3.0 and above has a temporary guide filter that can be accessed by pressing the Guide button twice that allows you to filter results. This filter should be permanent, but that's another post. The point is, very few people know about new features because TWC chooses to hide them, or not even communicate that they are there.

Satch They don't do it, so that if and when it becomes popular, and gets a lot of use, they can then charge for the "new" feature, even if it has been around for some time. -- "Understanding is a three-edged sword." |

Can you name a few examples of this please? No, but the behavior of big business, where all they are concerned with is return on investment for investors, this is generally the case. Look at all the software packages that MickeySoft puts out for free, or others put out as samples, so that they can charge for them. I believe that it's no different in the cable industry. So it's just my speculation. -- "Understanding is a three-edged sword." |

Good, now I can ignore everything else you posted As you have no examples of them doing what you claim in the past and have no evidence of them going to do it in the future. Not sure why would you even post that nonsense you originally posted.
And I'm not exactly sure what software MICROSOFT puts out for free, claiming its anything other then a limited time free trial, and then charges for it. But yes, typically companies do offer free samples or trials of products and service to try to see if youre interested in them. You seem extremely anti-business, which frankly disgusts me, so I won't go on about how wrong your speculation is. -- For the future of our nation, we must unite and vote out the terrorist known as Hussein Obama. I heard that Brighthouse Networks, the Sister Company of TWC has been getting ODN 5.0 and it improved speed on all the boxes, even the older SA-8300HDC's, so that's good.
I think more markets will start getting 5.0 pretty soon. BHN jumped from ODN 4.1.6 to ODN 5.0.

roc5955Premium join:2005-11-26 Rosendale, NY | reply to Steve Mehs Fine, believe what you will, but my judgement is based on plain and simple logic. Choose to not believe in logic or not. I can see that you do not believe in logic, because you call our duly elected, President a terrorist, and socialist, when he is actually neither. This shows your naivety; instead of figuring things out for yourself, you simply parrot the propaganda of corporations and bigots. That is, unless you create these things yourself.
And yes, I am extremely anti-business. I have gotten ripped off from so many businesses, I can no longer count them. I have not worked for a big business since the 70s, and vow to never work for one. You have to realize that, by their behavior, any business is only around as long as they keep ripping people off, and giving profits to their shareholders, while keeping the price of stock high.
You should also realize that, by its nature, capitalism is unsustainable, and cannot survive, as it presumes infinite resources, when we live on a planet of finite resources. Due to the facts of dwindling resources, if we are all to survive, we must share resources. If that makes me a "socialist," than so be it. I would rather share with others, than steal from them.
You need not go into how "wrong" my speculations are, because I know that either way they will be biased.
Look at MY tagline, the whole quote is as follows: "Understanding is a three-edged sword. There's your side, his side, and the TRUTH!"

Still got my SA-8300HDC, sometimes it can hiccup a little bit, but is nowhere near as slow (at least in my division) as others say it is. We still have ODN 4.1.06 in Wisconsin.
The SA 8300HD MDN box I always thought was fast. If that box was still being widely given out, and you could attach a drive expander, (which you can,) it would be a pretty fast box. Too bad MDN's don't have more storage space and can't do multi-room!
