More people are getting the new "enhanced" guide data. It's the same data but with extra flags like original airdate and more actor information. Even shows who directed the movie. Right now it's for ODN but MDN should have original air date. |

Copy to VCR
Keyword Search
Multi Room DVR (Samsung boxes ONLY. Will use the MoCA protocol since one of my SMT-H3260's said MoCA on boot.)
Nearest tune for MDN boxes (ODN has had this feature but not MDN.)
eSATA for ODN will eventually happen some day
Manual recording is another possibility.
VCR Timers could be possible if you whine and complain to the Navigator engineering department
Finally Remote DVR scheduling
TWC is rumored to be working with Samsung to create a Cable DVR with a built in DVD recorder. Also Navigator might also support DLNA for media streaming. Only the Samsung boxes have this feature not the SA boxes.

| Or maybe just a box that can record to DVD. It will likely be a retail product and will probably record the DVD's to SD. A Blu-ray drive would be needed for HD. This product will likely use CGMS and DTCP copy flags to limit what you can do with the recordings. |

I just noticed a change in Navigator.
Previously, there was an option to sort the Guide by Favorites (all of your Favorites would be listed first in the Guide).
Now that option is gone, but you can use the Favorites button while in the Guide, to skip through your programmed Favorites without leaving the Guide. This was the way it was in Passport, if I recall correctly.
I prefer it this way, but I was just getting used to it the other way.

San Diego, CA | TWC is upgrading headends to the new guide data. The new Guide data supports MDN and ODN though ODN has a few more tags. It now lists the original air date, actors, and the director information. Original Air Date doesn't shop up in movie listings. |

The CEA is now looking into to integrate tru2way in future sets. I think tru2way may still be alive. However these devices may use DCAS instead of a physical CableCard. Of course it will still run ODN and not some CE vendor created guide. An ODN powered television is the same as a SA HDC or Samsung box running it. No plans for DVR enabled tru2way TV's yet. A retail DVR box could come out if the spec is finalized.

Does any one know when, or if ever, the star rating will return for movies? In Passport the description for movies had a star rating on them so you got at least an idea of what kind of quality movie it may be.
I really miss that.
Also, any news on how "soon" TWC will implement a keyword search?
I tried asking the TWC client service the above questions, but I don't know why i still bother actually calling them. They don't know anything. (Translate as: They aren't TOLD anything, I am sure they have individual brains....)

I have the Samsung 3090 DVR. Since Monday of this week I've noticed that the Program Guide only goes out for four days. For example, today, October 28, the Program Guide will only go out until Noon of November 1st. Does anybody knows what is going on? |

| 3270 has been great for me. I still prefer it over the 8300HDC that I also have. I have both and the 3270 is much quieter and I think it's smaller. The minor bugs will get fixed in newer software releases. I hope Multi room DVR comes out in a future update. That probably won't come out until next year. |

The next version of Navigator could come out by the end of this year. Maybe this year since San Diego will be the first to get it. All the others will have to sit and wait for it. |

| My crystal ball still predicts a DVD burner enabled STB. It will be a Samsung DVR box but with a DVD burner attached to it. Copy to VCR will come back but they'll make sure it respects the copy flags. This means you can't copy a DVR recording to DVD if the channel is marked as Copy Once. This box will be available for lease and it should come out later next year. It might even let you dub movies you've purchased though I don't believe it as TWC marks VOD as copy never. 2Q to 3Q10 is when the new DVD burner enabled box is coming out.

Greensboro just updated the 8300HD's and 8300 SD's. They're still handing out 8240HDC's with SARA but as soon as you activate them they'll go straight to Navigator. |

1 edit | Greensboro has Navigator installed to about 80 percent of the boxes. The rest will be completed by later next month. The rest of the Triad will start next week and this project should be done by next year.
Edit: This transition is on schedule. Not many glitches are being reported so all is well. |

The roadmap for Passport. TWC should've bought Aptiv before Gemstar and Rovi bought it. Then we would've had a better guide. Especially SARA users who find even Navigator an improvement. Of course anything is an improvement over it. |
