| So what's the upgrade process to go from the 1.6 to the 2.0 and is there an advantage? Windows Live OneCare 2.0 is being rolled out to current customers in stages. You can download the latest version from the Windows Live OneCare website or wait for the upgrade to 2.0 to occur on its own.
I can buy a new v 2.0 free after rebate at Staples. This is a better deal than renewing my subscription with MSFT for $49 or whatever it costs. I'll be honest here in that I'm not sure how you would go about moving from a current subscription to a retail box-based subscription. Worst case scenario I *believe* would be cancelling the current subscription (specifically, not renewing it when it expires) and then using the retail box information for the following year.
Might not hurt to call us to ask - 866-OneCare is the number, available 24/7. They know way more on this than I do.

| You'll need to log in to your live.com account.
Once you have, go to your OneCare Member Center (»onecare.live.com/standard/en-us/···ault.htm)
Go to the Update account information.
Click on Windows Live OneCare under "Your Services".
Under End Date select "Renew this Service".
Then "click here to enter PIN". That's where you can enter the Serial Number off your new retail box.
For me I paid $10 to buy a new copy and that covered the renewal for a year.
