If it doesn't support VOIP then how am I using it with the 2wire. The trick is to be smarter them the modem

Agreed. It can work but the lvl 1 support folks have no way of telling folks how. I remember going to 2wire.com and seeing it didn't support VOIP in the beginning. I had a problem with that since Qwest sells it's own VOIP services. I found it a bit odd.
