| reply to tiny I think I will sign up also. I have a spare machine sitting in my server rack that is turned off. Will be glad to put it on there and let it run for 3 months. Might even decide to use it once in those three months. -- FWD#: 223611 |

| reply to tiny After reading MSeng's experience, I put it on a virtual machine running XP Pro SP1. If I have no problems, I'll move it in a week or so to the host machine as it said in the EULA that it can be moved to another machine as long as it is then uninstalled on the first one.
I thought the survey was interesting. I belong to that Microsoft Survey Panel so I'm used to surveys. One of the questions asked to asertain my level of computer expertise pertained to something I have never had a need to do and so had not slightest idea what the correct answer was! It also insisted that I answer a question about cell phone usage. I don't have a cell phone. It also asked a very confusing question about either home or mabile computing...I couldn't tell what it was asking really. There was a big emphasis on mobile computing in that survey and I don't do any mobile computing...I leave the house in order to get away from the computer! I sure wouldn't drag one around with me. There was a question about what OSes you own and all the way back before 95 was listed...but what OS was conspicously missing from the list? 98SE! Microsoft must really hate that OS and those of us that still use it on a computer...nah...someone wrote a not so great survey and no one at Microsoft proofed it.
Gee, I have Avira Security Suite Beta 8 and now Microsoft thingy on this machine. I hope it doesn't blow up. (It froze twice already today from the Avira beta). I will put it on the host machine after I cleanup my older hard drive so I can make a current True Image first. I think this is very good idea. | That's what I just did...put it on a VMWare machine running XP Pro SP1. I have one running SP2 but it has very little on it except for Avira Security Suite Beta 8 and Firefox so I don't think it would be right to put it there. It should on a machine I use a lot and I use the virtual machine with SP1 a lot. -- "The same ferocity that our founders devoted to protect the freedom and independence of the press is now appropriate for our defense of the freedom of the internet. Does that mean that at the end of the 3 months they could say they have no more "suuply" to give out? -- I never thought something so simple would be so hard to find....... |

I have been wanting to try out Vista, but have been turned off by the cost and first edition problems. With SP1 coming out very soon, this is a good time to get it. |

May make a note: to everyone that you have to reboot everyday or so in order to let uncle bill have his info sent to him. That was in the terms for getting this free software. The info is sent after each reboot.
I am keeping mine in standby and then going to reboot everyday. If any of you are like me, my Computers run 24/7
