I was unable to get the email after registering with 4 acocunts. Yahoo, gmail, comcast and my personal domain. I then used a proxy to register and voila! Instant response from MS. Weird... |

Does that mean that at the end of the 3 months they could say they have no more "suuply" to give out? The way Vista has been selling they have more than you need in supply .I signed up for it as much as i hate doing it im building a new rig and now i can put another 300 bucks into more Hardware . -- "It's called the American dream because you have to be asleep to believe it."-George Carlin

| reply to tiny I'll be installing this on my "extra" XP box in the basement when I get home tonight. I use it for casual web browsing and the like, nothing more.
If Ol' Billy boy in Redman wants to see my musings on BBR, and my occasional visit to Accuweather.com, so be it.
Now the question is, do I put a new HD and MB in my full size XT box, and put Vista on that, or do a dual boot on my Mac Book Pro? -- Petty people are disproportionably corrupted by petty power

Why the nerve of you saying that we cannot trust Uncle Bill. Just what has he ever done to any one. It's the end user that keeps taking his software and any thing else that he try's to sell so his family don't have to get food stamps.
LMAOROTF!
It will be interesting to see in March just how many people don't qualify for one reason or another. We will see.

| I remember filling out a questionnaire at Microsoft a few years ago for a free 16MB (WOW!) thumb drive and after months of waiting, you received this: "Sorry, due to an unexpectedly huge response to this offer, supplies have run out. Thanks for participating and have a nice day!" -- Some people see the glass as half full. Others see it as half empty. Jack Bauer sees the glass as a deadly weapon. |

1 edit | reply to tiny Tried to register for this program today. Did not get E-mail back from MS (as indicated on their website). Contacted them through indicated address (ie winpanel@microsoft.com) to get help (about an hour ago). Received this reply:
"Microsoft will be closed Thursday, November 24th and Friday, November 25th. Responses to the Windows Feedback Panel will be delayed over the holidays. We will give your request our immediate attention Monday, November 28, 2005. Thanks for your patience and a Happy Thanksgiving to all our Panelists! Best Regards, Windows Feedback Panel »wfp.microsoft.com/
I don't think they're devoting much time/energy to this OR they have closed program. Will advise if I hear more.

| reply to tiny I signed up about 2 hours ago and received an email from them almost instantly. I too installed the app on my wife's computer. She does a lot of work from home so I do not mind Microsoft taking a peek at the hardware/software that is on this machine. |

Once installed it prompted me to re-enter the same email address i first used.
I hope virtualization doesn't disqualify me. How soon are we supposed to get our "free" software ? |

1 edit | reply to MSeng Re: [Free] Vista Ultimate, Office directly from Microsoft.
said by MSeng :said by tiny :Before the flame war starts let me say that I'm installing this on a secondary computer. That's a wise decision. I joined this awhile ago (never pass up on an opportunity to get another Vista license) and suffice to say I did not have a pleasant experience. I don't know if I just had a bad install but it slowed the machine down to a crawl in less than 24 hours, broke the Windows installer and I had to System Restore to get rid of it and get the machine back to normal. Your mileage may vary... The same thing happened to me ,YEAH and when that didn't work, I uninstalled the program, so, I already have a Vista Ultimate license as well as 2 Vista Home Permium licenses, I DON'T want to go thur 3 months of THAT HELL just to get another Vista License |

For the people that are having the slow downs with their computers hell man just look what has just been installed Zone has picked up about 15 or more new entries just from that program install.
I figure that in short of a system restore or a new OS install you will never get this off your computer.

| reply to tiny According the FAQ, the info is gathered and sent at the beginning of each logon, not at the end as someone else stated. And, I don't see in the FAQ at least mention of the requirement to turn the computer on at least once per day.
Can anyone confirm that the computer must be run once a day? |

Not sure you talking about my post but they were so many pages with requirements you will need a law degree to see through the crap. I was mainly saying what I did because a lot of people do run computers 24/7 and info is sent after you start or reboot. If people don't keep up with this it will give Bill a reason not to part with the software. So he owns your but for the next three months and at that time I will do a clean install of the OS.
