There is a limit to the number of connections (sessions) the 5100/4100 modems can have open when the modem is making the PPPoE connection. That limiting number (something more than 100) is raised to a higher limit when the modem is bridged. Sorry to be so vague, but no one has pinned down these numbers.

Either limit the number of connections your P2P client is making or switch to bridged or PPP on the computer mode in the modem. I suppose that the 2Wires have similar connection constraints, but even less is known about their limits.
