The employer calls the shots. What happen to the work ethic. You get up got dressed came in and worked then go home. Now it wah I want to telecommute. I got idea come in or find another job. ATT can find plenty of East Indians who willing to come in and WORK. |

I'll stick with having to go to the office everyday! -- Only SHATNER is Kirk. |

| What a great work culture we have brewing here, pretty sure I'm glad I don't work for any of your employers.
Come in to work for fear of Indians taking my job! Dey turk muh jerb!
Problems stem from trying to group every single person under a monolithic policy, out-dated management practices, not building an objectives-driven work environment that instills trust and loyalty between employees and the employer, etc etc.
I can't recall feeling the need to work more than 40 hours tops for an employer that becomes inflexible. I always maintain professionalism, but there's a silent code that prohibits me of going above and beyond for those that will not extend the smallest of gratitude.
If you're in fear of your job being farmed-out to India, see a therapist or seriously get a real job/career. |

2 edits | I hope you realize there are a lot of "real job/careers" that have been outsourced. If your job doesn't require you to meet directly with clients, it can be outsourced. There are PLENTY of LARGE industries where the large majority of their work day/work force does not require face to face communication with any clients, therefore those jobs can theoretically be outsourced.
So please elaborate on what you consider a "real job". To iterate further, I interviewed a gentlemen a few days ago who worked at a hearing aid manufacturer doing helpdesk/IT management. He ended up having to move further away from their corporate offices and since he ran their helpdesk/IT he showed them he could accomplish most of his job from home. After a year working at home the company decided that since he was able to do it they could outsource their helpdesk calls to malaysia, and any internal needs could be met by local companies who offered on-site services for small fees when needed.
Needless to say he essentially put himself out of work and is now job hunting. So once again, why do you feel the posters fears are unfounded? |

It's heaven. |
