Many of us just know, without having to be told, that an "unlimited" data plan is probably not unlimited. You don't need to read the contract to know that, since you're on dslreports, you read news stories about the industry, etc. And because of that, you also know what questions to ask.
Imagine--hard as this is--that there are people in the world with DIFFERENT INTERESTS than yours, and that's OKAY. (Try. It's difficult, I know.) Those people don't know before walking into a cell phone store that there is no way "unlimited data" for $10 is really unlimited.
You know, you shouldn't need to be an expert (or even really interested) in a field to be able to make a purchase without getting TOTALLY HOSED. Maybe you don't get the best deal, but you shouldn't have to mortgage your house because you're not a nerd and you wanted a phone.
