Moving to Tulsa, need apartment recommendation

I will be moving to Tulsa next month and don't know much about the area. Can anyone recommend a nice place for a 2 bed 2 bath apartment that is in a good neighborhood?

First off, where will you be working? And, do you have children in school?

I will be working off of N 161st East and have no children. Just me and my wife. I just need a 2 bedroom so I have somewhere to keep all of my computer equipment without it driving the wife insane.

If you're going to be working on N 161st, I'd look in the Owasso area. Decent, fast growing area with fewer srime issues than Tulsa.

How far north on 161st East Ave.?

There are apartments on I-44 (aka Skelly Bypass) down in the 129th East Ave. area, but I don't know if they are suitable or not.

I grew up a few miles from there (between 81st and 91st on S 129th East Ave.), but haven't kept up with east Tulsa area in a long time. My folks lived in Broken Arrow until their deaths in '94 & '95. We still go back there to visit family and friends. We stay at the KOA that is 2 miles east of where you are talking about (across from the Cherokee Casino).

Just north of 44. I hear that SE Tulsa and Broken Arrow are nice areas.

There are nice areas in Tulsa? Wish I knew that when I was there last year. I was truly disappointed in that town.

Just like Austin, some are nice, some aren't.

Austin has one "troubling" area. There is no "bad" area in town at least not compared to where I recently lived.

I know you said you grew up in Tulsa and yes I'm sure there are some nice areas but I seriously did not feel safe driving around on a Thursday night to find some bars and I did a bunch of driving. I stayed at a hotel near the convention center.

In the morning around 10 I went downtown to take pictures. It was a ghost town. Almost no cars and exactly two people I saw. Why would that have been? This was last January and the weather was good.
