Re: [HN7000S] Hughes is Hijacking our DNS for Invalid URL's

Can you verify your first link (»wwwh.found-not-help.com)? I get a "page not found" error on that.

I get the same thing. This appears to be what is supposed to happen. However clicking on the second link brings up something that I think is suspicious. Anything that adds cookies I am wary of.

Yes, isn't that INTERESTING?

Are you on satellite? Try some garbage URL, include the http. like »www.sddtgbrgdfgdfgfds.com.

For anyone not on HughesNet, that is what you will get. It's a special treatment *just* for their "valued customers."

EDIT: HA! This morning it's returning the usual "DNS lookup error" for a computer that does not have the cookie set to "opt out." Perhaps they have pulled the DNS hijack in reaction to my complaints. I will keep checking, we have several comps here on a router and I have one with the "cookie set" and another without.

No, I'm not and that may very well be the difference. So that link brings up a valid page for you? Can you get a screenshot?

This is where it sends me and locks me to that page, will not let me go back using my back button. (Yahoo search page?)

Yes, It took me to that site and then I couldn't get out of it. Had to close the browser and restart IE to get back to HN forum.

Jack_in_VA, have you verified that you are using HN's DNS? There are trojans out there that will change your systems DNS to point to their servers.
