·Vonage
| You're right. According to Vonage's own figures, Comcast is currently the market leader. But in fairness, let's compare apples to apples here. Skype is not an apple to Vonage's or even Comcast's apple. I don't care how one spins this.
Skype isn't a saint. A quick [insert preferred search engine and make a verb out of it here] will reveal that, arguably, Skype has the same or larger problems than Vonage.
A quick rundown:
• Skype is banned or blocked in some countries. • Skype is blocked by several ISPs. • Skype is banned or blocked by many college and university campuses around the world. • Skype users have recently been forced by many Telcos and regulators around the world to change their phone numbers. • Skype claims to have 100 million REGISTERED users. They're just REGISTERED. It doesn't mean that all 100 million REGISTERED users actually use Skype as their primary line as SUBSCRIBERS. In fact, Skype's own people have been so bold to say that THEY don't even know how many people use their services full time. • By Skype's own admission, you cannot access ANY emergency services through their lines. • Oh, and you need software for Skype. Vonage? No. Comcast? No. CallVantage? No.
The list goes on and on. I think I've made my point.
Bottom line: Skype can't won't save the world, either. |
