@verizon.net | verizon MI424Wr - Allocate IP Address by MAC ????
I use DHCP but want the router to assign some ip addresses by their mac address.
i.e. so mac xxxx is always given 192.168.1.8 for example.
I cannot see anyway to do this. Anyone found how to do this? |

| What you are asking for is also called MAC reservation.
Assuming this is the manual for your Router: »www.fiosfaq.com/docs/mi424wr-manual.pdf
Procedure is on page 137 Chapter 8 advanced static connection.
Not sure how the Actiontec handles reserving a different IP address if DHCP lease for that MAC address has not expired. On my Netopia router will continue to renew DHCP lease, ignoring "static" setting.

Thanks
I am using the latest firmare: 4.0.16.1.55.0.10.4.3 This does not appear to have the option to do this. As shown in the manual the "New static ip button" on page 136 is not available |

| I was given the answer below in this thread:
For "Static DHCP" to always assign the same IP to a given device: Click Advanced, Yes, IP Address Distribution, Connection List. If the device you want is in the list and you want it to keep the IP it already has, just click the Hostname link or edit icon, check the box for Static Lease Type and click Apply. Otherwise click New Static Connection and enter the MAC address and IP.
