Quoted from the article:
All five voting systems used in Ohio, a state whose electoral votes narrowly swung two elections toward President Bush, have critical flaws that could undermine the integrity of the 2008 general election, a report commissioned by the states top elections official has found.
It was worse than I anticipated, the official, Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, said of the report. |

| reply to Cudni So why didn't they wait a little longer to decide this was a problem, like maybe until the day before the election? It's only been 3 years since the last one, they're just now deciding they have an issue? |

The secretary of state, governor and attorney general are all of different parties than the previous administration and took office in Jan 2007. I suspect that may be a factor in the three year delay and the decision to study. -- BBR's Shooting for a Cause! |

| Also, let's not overlook the fact that there were probably a number of committees, sub-committees, and ultimately a task force formed, staffed, budgeted, and then tasked to create a mission statement and then a suitable and "cool" sounding acronym for the report. Tax dollars hard at work, I'm sure.

| reply to Cudni What they should do is use a weighted "plinko" type chip, maybe a bit bigger than a casino chip, but they are a certified weight. Then you get your "chip", and go to the voting station and drop the chip in the box relating to your candidate. then the boxes containing the chips are weighed, the weight can be accurate to .01 grams. The chips weigh 25 grams each......no? problem solved |

1 edit | reply to Cudni Well would you count every apple, or just weigh them all? It's even easier if all the chips are the same weight each. You could even watch your chip add weight when you drop it...so easy
Oh and if you chip is heavier than it should be, you get beaten about the head and shoulders |
