DSL Speed Drop

My line tests out at 1.5 down.It has been the same since I sign up for DSL service back for about 4 weeks. I have the Pro. Will someone check this out? The line that the DSL is on is 408-279-XXXX.

Thanks,
Leonardy

You've got a pretty high attenuation number for Pro speeds but it's possible that the little bit of noise you have is degrading the DSL signal. You're 100% positive that every device plugged into jacks that carry your DSL phone number have a filter on them (except the modem)??

Another thing to try is to plug the modem directly into the NID and grab these stats again. That eliminates all of your internal home wiring. Here's how...
»AT&T Southeast Forum FAQ »How to check modem stats, synch rates & speeds from test jack at the NID.

I just remove the filter from the modem and phone jack. Now, I connect directly from modem to the wall. What do you think about the connection now? Thank you so much.

You are on the first step of the 10-day, Pro speed ramp, but your attenuation is awfully high like tonydi See Profile said. I don't think we have ever seen a line with attenuation over 55.0 dB handle full Pro speeds, much less complete the speed ramp successfully.

That said, your inside wiring including the microfilters might be boosting your attenuation to excessive levels. Check your sync stats at your NID as Tony suggested if you can to test for this possibility.

Line 144 on the techreadout page will tell you the maximum capacity your modem thinks it can attain at the current line conditions. Cut that value by 10-12% to remove bit swap and ATM overhead and you get an estimate of your line's maximum sync speed.

I just come back from NID test. There is no connection DSL on it. I went to the back of my apartment and tested it. The lights on the modem was red and blinking. Now, I came back to my apt and tested with wall jack. Everything works fine. In my apartment, I have 3 wall jack. Only 1 is working. Thank you.

Wow, the stats indicate it would be close.

Regarding the NID test, in apt bldgs it's often difficult to get to where the DSL signal comes in. Not much you can do there. I'm still concerned about the noise on the line, which may be hampering things.

I'd say it's time to post in the Direct forum and let those guys have a look and see what they can do for you.

Note that AT&T Direct is a private forum so only you and the AT&T techs can see your thread. Also, the techs are usually pretty swamped with requests so be patient, they'll get to you as soon as they can. Since you have a working circuit they may bypass you to work on ones that are having problems.

Finally, don't reply to your AT&T Direct post until one of the techs has replied first. They look for unanswered threads so if they see any replies they may bypass yours, thinking someone else is helping you.
