I have Elink DSL,from when I was with Mindspring, provisioned by Covad, is it time to switch, or will I get some notice?

No guarantee of any notice - if EL stops paying Covad then Covad will shut down the EL circuits. If you want little down time - I would see about switching very soon.

I guess its a good thing then I got kicked to verizon's network (in the middle of the night, literally) from Covads.

Saw a speed increase so that is always a bonus...

ELNK's service is not going down anytime soon. They have plenty of revenue from monthly subscribers, plenty of cash in bank, and are just making long overdue cost cuts they should've done several years ago. I worked at ELNK, still use ELNK DSL, and am not about to pay the Telco monopolies any more $$ for "installation fees".
