Exces leaving Earthlink

I switched from Earthlink to Verizon DSL back 2003 when they announced layoffs for a nearly quarter of their staff. I saw the writing on the wall back then. Their imminent demise was inevitable.

And here it is, almost 2008, and they're still around. Not sure if they still offer DSL service in Bronx, but it appears they haven't quite closed up shop...

I haven't ever contemplated switching due to service issues, and as a TWC/Earthlink HSI customer, I'm not concerned about losing my internet connection for too long. If the ELink get their plug pulled, I would think TWC would activate my existing modem on their infrastructure (e.g. DHCP server) with a simple phone call.
