Cannot be ICMP pinged, totally out of ideas on what to do!

I tried to enable icmp ping echo requests in windows firewall, didn't work, then i turned off windows firewall, then i called my isp and talked to some guy in india who didn't understand what he was talking about i think and had me run netsh w r in command and that didn't do a thing. I can't be pinged and it's ruffling my feathers! ARG! Thank you.

Is your computer DIRECTLY connected to the DSL modem, or is there something between your computer and the DSL modem (i.e.: a D-Link/Linksys/whatever router)?

Allow me to hijack this thread for myself.

I recently switched over to DSL from cable. I was successfully using the line monitor in the Charter forum.

Now that I switched over to DSL, I can't ping my IP at all. I even shutdown my firewall (Comodo 3.x) to see if that was the issue - to no avail. Even though I didn't change my firewall settings, the fact that I shut down my firewall with no change essentially removes the firewall from the equation.

I am using the Motorola 2210 DSL modem. No router or anything - just the modem connected directly to my computer. I checked to make sure that the Windows XP firewall was not up and running (which I never have turned on) and it wasn't - just to eliminate that variable.

So where do I go from here? I am a total noob at this and I can't seem to find any answers, at least here on DSLR. I'm set up for the line monitor in the at&t forum and it's kind of embarrassing to have nothing showing.
