| weird IMAP problem....works, then doesnt work...
ok guys bare with me, this one might be confusing but i can assure you it is exactly what is happening.
i have a user out in the field. when i setup his laptop in his vehicle yesterday i configured it with IMAP. keep in mind, our vehicles have sprint modems which have 4 LAN ports on them. so basically, the computer connects to the modem with an Ethernet cable. basically, its just like a sprint card.
so at our shop the coverage is EVDO. i configured outlook 2003 and i sent and received email no problem all afternoon, i must have send and received over 20-30 emails to our main office. i was in a great mood since everything was working like it should be. today, the employee drives to the remote location where he is getting decent coverage...-87db if that means anything to anyone...to me its acceptable. this put him in 1xrtt mode. now, when he tries to send mail, it gets stuck in the outgoing box and new mail doesnt arrive.
so far i have deleted his imap account and started over...nothing.
tried to setup pop3...nothing
i know he has internet on his machine becuase i was able to remote desktop into it...so obviously he is connected to the internet.
i doubt this has to do anything with 1xrtt and EVDO, but this was working yesterday afternoon and the only thing that has changed is the location.
this is the error i am getting when IMAP is configured
Task 'Checking for new mail in subscribed folders on ' reported error (0x800CCC0E) : 'Outlook is unable to download folder (null) from the IMAP e-mail server for account . Error: Unable to connect to the server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'
i have read a bunch of solutions on making the default path inbox and stuff like that, but it isnt working.
i just configured his email account on my laptop at home and it pulls all the email and sent out a few emails in a matter of seconds...so i know that it isnt a server issue...
this just doesn't make sense... |

| ok i just did a remote desktop and i noticed that the remote user is in EVDO coverage and emails are coming through perfect...no errors with imap.
so is this seriously what is happening? once it gets out of EVDO coverage it cant connect to imap...that is the weirdest thing ever. |
