1 edit | What could cause hollow ice cubes from ice maker?
I have a Kenmore fridge/freezer (top bottom, not side by side) that has a built in ice maker. It seems like maybe 1 "rack" of cubes out of 5 comes out hollow. It is really not that big of a deal because the bin is huge so I always have plenty of good ice, but I am curious as to what could cause this.
The icemaker itself is labeled "Acceler Ice" and is connected to a cold water supply via 15ft (may be 20, it is the ice maker kit from Home Depot) copper line going into a saddle piercing valve to the cold water supply line that feeds the kitchen sink.
edit:hollow, not hallow. |

Hollow : A cavity or space in something.
Hallow : Render holy by means of religious rites.
Hollow ice cubes are most often cause by insufficient water supply. Icemakers fill for about 7.5 seconds, resulting in about 4.75 oz. (140 cc) of water into the ice cube mold. If not enough water pressure is available at the fridge, cubes may end up hollow and/or the fill could continue to dribble, eventually causing the fill tube to freeze closed. When was the last time you changed your water filter ? -- Good judgement comes with experience...Experience comes after bad judgements |

1 edit | haha I knew it didn't look right. That's what happens when you stop reading and rely on spell check for everything.
It has never been changed. The fridge has a filtered water dispenser that seems like it has been a little slow also. The filter is definitely due for a change so I will look into that. Thanks for the spell check also. |

If you are going to neglect the filter it is better to bypass it. Dirty filter is worse than none. -- Am Heimcomputer sitz' ich hier, und programmier' die Zukunft mir |
