Re: How to block porn from On-Demand channels? The difference may be that in LOTR, the violence is acted out and fake while in an "adult" movie the "action" isn't pretend.

I'm not against occasional pornography for adults, but like alcohol, it can be phychologically and physically addicting, especially for kids, leading to a loser social life. I'm teaching my kids that *wanting* to look is natural and I know that they will easily find some as they grow older, but I don't want to make it too casual and easy for them (and gee, obeying the law is nice). The more you view, the more you desensitize your eyes to the beauty and fun of real people vs. imaginary people. |

The VOD channels in my area (Farmington MN) just went encrypted (they were at 107.1-.9, 108.1-.8). I miss the free occasional movie and yes, there was plenty of adult material. |

The vod did just get encrypted here, but for reference in areas where they are not the easiest thing you can do is take a quick visit to the local office and say My Name is... I live at .... and I bought a new HDTV and now I can see all your VOD channels.. They as well as we did have Notch Filters to trap out the VOD on the tv. But it is with some setback though. You may end up loosing access to some VOD content if you have a set top box as well because it uses the same frequencies. sometimes they will put the trap inside just for that tv, but keep in mind your kid sees that its going to get removed anyways. But more and more markets are encrypting as well as adding DRM protection. Any system being fed from Rochester, MN Now has DRM on all VOD so no more recording... Expect that to be the norm for all channels as we move into the future. |

I wasn't making any value judgements; I was just trying to propose why one may find porn offensive but not LOTR.

There are no facial shoots or anything really hardcore. Just a little bit cheesier than skinimax flics. I'd worry about your kids more if they never checked out porn. If they start watching it 12 hrs a day well your kid is a bit f-ed up already. Or better yet if you suspect them of watching it or catch them talk to them about it. |

Its healthy to let your kids beat off to porn. Idk, I would be open with my kids, let them know what porn is and let them watch it. This is how my parents were with me, and now, I could care less about porn. Id rather make porn with my girlfriend rather than watch it!!

| As you know BBTIII97420 There are FCC guidelines which deal with obscenity. so if Annon lets me know how to contact him i'll foward his contact info to vp of his KMA and also the tech ops mgr and im sure the problem would be resolved either by encryption of the Indemand channels (not the vod)or by trapping freq of channels at pole. |

For a while I was able to see VOD channel on digital TV. About a week ago Charter removed this "feature". All other channels, SD and HD, seems OK. So at least it can be done. |
