| [Poll] Registry Cleaners / Editors 2008 Member choice
Welcome to the Registry Cleaners / Editors 2008 Member choice poll which seeks to establish what software is the most popular and recommended when delving within registry is concerned. One definition of such software might go on these lines.
A registry cleaner is a type of software designed to remove redundant or unwanted items from the Windows registry. A registry editor is a program that enables you to view, search for, and change settings in your system registry, which contains information about how your computer runs. Please select one or more programs you use to manipulate registry or if such program is not listed select other and post what that program is

| Nice poll, Cudni ! I voted other. I use the TuneUp Utlities registry cleaner. Although not as aggressive as some others, it hasn't caused an issue in the nearly 4 years I've been using it. »www.tune-up.com -- Some people see the glass as half full. Others see it as half empty. Jack Bauer sees the glass as a deadly weapon. |

| reply to Cudni Voted CCleaner, RegEdit (manual editing) and Other. Other is a free program I have been testing recently called Advanced WindowsCare Personal Edition and which I like so far. I also use RegSeeker for searching in the registry, but do not use it as a cleaner because it's too aggressive. I forgot to vote for it.
That said, I believe that registry cleaners are inherently dangerous and do not provide measurable improvement in performance. An exception might be a program like the one offered by Symantec intended only to clear your registry of traces of its products. |

| reply to Cudni RegScanner v1.60 - find/search in the Registry of Windows
RegScanner is a small utility that allows you to scan the Registry, find the desired Registry values that match to the specified search criteria, and display them in one list. After finding the Registry values, you can easily jump to the right value in RegEdit, simply by double-clicking the desired Registry item. You can also export the found Registry values into a .reg file that can be used in RegEdit.
PS: You can also use this to open registry "strings" found on webpages from within Mozilla.
Open in Regedit: open registry entries, as posted on a web page, in (Windows) Regedit |
