| reply to Cudni TuneUp Utilities Registry Cleaner.
Had a problem when I ran it right after installing a seperate, third-party application (really, really messed up the app). This was with the 2006 version.

Regseeker because it is aggressive and has IMO an excellent registry search feature.
CCleaner for the lite work. |

| reply to Cudni I am running W98SE so I have CCleaner incorporated into a bat file that allows me to delete the win386.swp file and not just empty the recycle but delete it.
Add the following to the CC.bat file:
@echo off > c:\marker.cc start /w "c:\program files\ccleaner\ccleaner.exe" /Auto start c:\windows\rundll32.exe shell32,SHExitWindowsEx 2
Then add the following to autoexec.bat file:
if exist marker.cc del c:\windows\win386.swp if exist marker.cc deltree /y c:\recycled if exist marker.cc del marker.cc
Thanks to the guys a computing.net for the help in setting this up. |

| reply to therube To do the same in IE (to open in regedit a highlighted key from a web page or from my local HTML file) I use simple add on "Bring It On" from this site. It even opens WE in a folder if I highlight it in a web page.
To clean my registry I'm using RegSeeker. Never had a problem with it, even if I use most aggressive mode with "Invalid Services (experimental)" option turned on. It's just my personal experience. -- Keep it simple, it'll become complex by itself... |

3 edits | reply to Cudni Hi Cudni,
Thank you for doing a poll on software I'm very interested in. I just voted on the 2 that I run, Registry Mechanic and CCleaner. I have to say that I find CCleaner a little agressive except that it does find and will delete those Perflib_Perfdata.dat files that other programs done seem to be able to remove.
Thanks again for the poll, Michael. |

| reply to Cudni Thanks for the poll, Cudni !
I don't clean the registry very often (never did) but when I do it's CCleaner, Regseeker and on rare occasions Eusing Registry Cleaner.
