It's called edge encryption. Some sites have it turned on, others don't. I occasionally can see what a neighbor has ordered off the streaming node, but it has definately been some time.

On-Demand is pushed from the servers at the headend out to the streaming nodes where they are stored. This is generally a hubsite for a specific region. When the asset is requested, and the ordering party has accepted the charge or otherwise accepted the order to be fulfilled, the asset is played and displayed on the users STB.

I'm not sure what version Motorola firmware enables VOD session encryption... I think it's 16.38 for DCT's and 18.24 for DCH's.

SA's always had this ability.
