Re: [CATV] No cable cards

I think the $2 fee for a cable cards is stupid, there is no way, its cost that much to type a number into there computer. Plus your using your own equipment.

Listen you need to be stern with Patriot Media. They need to be told the laws and regulations. First off you don't talk to a Customer Service Rep they are bull shit. You get a supervisor on the line and if they say the will call you back you take down the CS reps name and say this line:
"I want you to understand that I am accepting a call back from a supervisor and I am personally holding you "Insert Customer Service Rep's Name Here" responsible for make sure I recieve a call back."
Make sure this rep knows when you will be avaliable. Now if you still can't get in contact with a supervisor you call back this time very angrily explainging you never recieved a call back, and state you will wait on the phone until a supervisor will speak to you. Know when you finally get through with the supervisor you tell him the following line:
"(INSERT SUPERVISOR'S NAME), I am sure you are fully aware that it is a direct violation of the FCC laws to not provide customer's with a cable card. So I would appreicate that we set up an appointment within the next business days to have the cards installed and activated. Here are the dates I am avaliable: (Insert dates here)"

Saying those 2 lines and speaking to a supervisor you make him/her fully aware that you know your rights and will follow up with the FCC if there are violations going on. If you want a cable card you can get one.

As a customer base we will not stand slaves to Patriot Media.

IME with Patriot, the supervisors are more clueless than the CSRs.

Almost nobody in that organization gives a rat's behind about anything. Forget about a call back...it'll never happen.

Visited Patriot today. Spoke with Michael Kay. He doesn't know when cards will be available - doesn't really care.

I don't understand......when I called a few months ago they gave me the same bull shit response that there is a waiting list. Then i said what I said above and they had the cards ready to be delivered the next day.

I guess i should start calling on behalf of people wanting cable cards, because i know how to handle patriot media.

there is a waiting list. when you called they probably forced the job in and most likely bumped someone that had a install for that day.

if you guys are so upset about cable cards, call motorola - that's where we get them from.

Typical pat media response, let's pass the buck, motorola would do nothing for an average cable customer, they have contracts with cable companies to provide the equipment, that is the worst advice, same don't care attitude, i'm sure most of you will be replaced by comcast. so good luck,

if the co can't get them from their supplier where should they get them from??????

we (service techs) can barely get spares for cable card service calls.

actually forget motorola - complain to comcast. that's where our warehouse supplies come from.

I just got off the phone with Joanie. She said she spoke with BP yesterday and there is still no word as to when they will be getting them. The only good thing she said is they should be getting some 2 way cards in, so lets hope they do and soon. She said in the past when they were on order it took as long as 4 months to get them in.

So frustrating that there is nothing we can do. The thing that upsets me most is there is no time table as to when they are expecting the cards.

I also called Comcast and they said they have the cards in stock, but although they bought PatMedia, they do not have the records or anything to do with it yet and their systems are entirely different. I told them PatMedia told me to call there and they called PatMedia to try and straighten it out. Unfortunately, nothing came of it. Even if I were to get a card from Comcast, they said it would not work because it is a different system. PatMedia said it was Motorolla's fault.

NO, I appreciate having him here. Just telling what happened when I tried going to comcast. I've even been nice to the people I've spoken with at PatMedia so far. Really, there is no choice not to. If it were up to them, they would have them as well.

I didn't mean to shoot the messenger, lol, but maybe its because motorola needs to cut a new deal for cable cards with the now comcast owned CNJ system, I'm sure comcast has complete control over inventory at patriot.

at least maybe we can look forward to things like portable DVR's like the one comcast is unveiling at the CET show today

comcast did buy the co in sep but patriot probably won't be fully integrated to spring. though we are slowly seeing changes - like the hd tier changes for instance.

as far as cable cards, maybe patriot is still getting them from the same place from before the sale.

but like i said - the techs can't get them either.

Any recommendations on who we can bitch to, to make a difference since it seems everyone we've tried so far falls on deaf ears?

Listen you guys who want cable cards need to stand up.
If you want a cable card here is what you do:

1) Pick up a touch tone phone
2) Dial: 215-665-1700
3) Press 0 to be transferred to an operator
4) ask for "Brian Roberts' Office"
5) ask to speak to Brian Roberts
6) You will be declined but then say
8) I am a patriot media customer. Are you familiar with Patriot Media? If yes go to step 10 if no go to step 9
9) Patriot Media is a cable provider that Comcast purchased. There is no senior mangement at Patriot Media because it is run by comcast. Proceed to step 10
10) Patriot Media is in direct violation of an FCC law that states cable provides must provide customers upon request cable cards. State that Patriot Media has claimed they have a waiting list for 6 months of over 100 people but claim they also don't have stock of the cable cards, which they haven't for 6 months. Say this is unacceptable and you demand a call back by the end of the business day stating an update on the situation and hopefully a resolution.

Congratz you will have your cable cards.

As always love,
