Yup. Now if AT&T & VZ can only find a way to get their hands on the now dominating cable provided voip through some violation. Shutting cable voip down or by having the cable providers pay them directly in order to compete with their POTS service. Either way it's a win! Cable VOIP is NOT like Vonage. Their VOIP travels on their own backbone NOT the Internet. You also pay the FCC Access Fee with Cox Digital Voice. Cable VOIP is a different signal as well and doesn't affect the HSI portion or the cable portion.
Vonage was taking lots of VZ customers and not paying access to the networks. I bet VZ was pissed about that way more than the patent infringement. Vonage costs every real telephone customer money since no connection charges.
Also, I doubt AT&T and VZ want to get into pissing contests with the Cable COs since both have the best lawyers. It would be a hollow victory. Actually, maybe VZ could see a patent infringement lawsuit over the signal with FIOS since they use Coax cables? I don't know but they probably have a cease-fire, gentleman's agreement to kill off the little guys before they tear at each other. -- Saving the world keeps me busy.
