Me: I have a 2004 SAAB.
On Star: Sorry we are not able to unlock that vehicle.
ON A Different day...........
Me: On Star pleas unlock my wifes GM SUV, she locked her keys inside.
On Star: We can unlock your wifes Danali for her.....
Me: OK thanks......
On Star: Please have your wife contact us from her On Star in vehicle system.
Me: She's locked out, and is using a cell phone loaded by a passer by.
On Star: OK give us her On Star account number and PIN and we will unlock it.
Me: You really don't get it, the keys which are in her purse, Onstar account card which is in her purse, purse which is locked in the car.
On Star: Sorry with out the ability to provide your account number or if you can not contact us from hour in car hands free system we can not help you.
ANOTHER different day
On Star: Rep reminded me "We can call your On Star let you know if the air bags are deployed".
Me: If I am in an accident and my air bags are deployed don't you think I will know that.
On Star: We can sell you minutes for as low as 30 cents a minute.........
Me: You have to be kidding, todays cell plans blow that away.
On Star: We will let you know when your call needs service.
Me: Really for just under 50 bucks a month NO THANKS.
In my view On Star is a totally useless service and with the Analog shutdown and rise of GPS will be come a distant memory.
Its interesting to note the GM will not and never has reported on the amount of paid subs, churn, etc. I believe this is because it would be a black eye (even a small one) to GM to admit this service is not now and has never been successful.
