| Tiered DSL isn't that fast. If you buy the $10 DSL, you generally get 384-768, but if you spring for about ten more bucks, you can most generally get faster, more reliable service that doesn't have a Fair Access Policy. With DSL, you can run faster, download longer, and actually use your Internet for half the cost of satellite.
Take it from someone who lives in a market where DSL is expensive, ($89 for 3 meg down), even the worst DSL or cable is better than the best satellite simply because there are no restrictions on how much you can use or when. |

They going to the forum that is your daughters ISP and see if any of that ISP's techs hang there and she can get it fixed.
Picking up the phone just means bad wiring or a bad filter.
While DSL requires MUCH less tweaking than satellite system, there are still certain things to understand to at least get the telco to fix your problems. -- | Speedstream 4200 Modem - 3m/384 plan | W98-W2KSP4-XPSP2 - All AMD | Buffalo WHR G54S with Tomato 1.13 | 3 downstream switches feeding 6 total clients (no wireless) | Including the Data port on the side of my neck | |
