| Video on Demand not working
As a former RCN customer I had been using VOD only infrequently, but it did work then. For the past week, (and could be longer since that is the first time I checked in quite a while), I have not been able to access any programing. I get the menu and choose the show, but when I press play, I get the flip bar for few seconds and then a black screen. Sometimes I get an error message telling me to call RCN! My neighbor with Astound service is experiencing the same trouble. I have been on the phone several times with support both locally and in Washington state. Nothing they suggested or did worked. A tech finally came out and said he had complaints, but no one on the phone support can verify other complaints or even that the system is down. I am asking readers of this forum whether or not they have working video on demand. |

| Very interesting. I presume you tested it today or last night. At least two of us in SF have no VOD service, and I can document another Astound customer in Walnut Creek who also has no VOD service and was told that Astound knows about the problem. My problem is at least ten days old. I reported it immediately upon discovery and I am still waiting for a fix. |

Well I read your post, checked the VOD and wrote my post over the course of about 2 minutes. |

| Finally after much complaining and the onsite visit of several techs the problem was solved. It turned out to be a bad port on a splitter at the head station affecting only those users in the area served by that node. It took a high level technician and some careful sleuthing to discover and correct the malfunction. As of now all is well. Thanks for checking it out and getting back to me so promptly. |
